Safety is paramount during construction of the tunnel in the Fehmarnbelt. Together with FORCE in Lyngby, Femern A/S conducted comprehensive simulations of vessel traffic and tested the co-operation with the VTS operators who monitor the traffic in the Fehmarnbelt.
The Fehmarn tunnel is to be operated in a climate-friendly manner using with green power and with a focus on energy efficiency and future-proof solutions that can ensure the utilization of new technology and handle the green conversion of the means of transport by road and rail. This is at the core of the call for tenders that Femern A/S is now launching.
With final German approval of the Fehmarnbelt project obtained in November 2020, construction of the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel between Denmark and Germany is now well underway.
