A/S Øresund owns, operates and maintains the Øresund motorway and the Øresund rail line, which are the connecting facilities to the Øresund Bridge on the Danish side.
The Øresund facility is one of Denmark’s most important transport links and when it opened in 1997 and 1998, it marked an upturn in mobility at an international, national, regional and local level.
The EU has recognised the facility as an important component in the creation of the coherent transport network, Connecting European Facility (CEF), which is one of the pre-requisites for a common market with free movement. The project, therefore, received financial subsidies from the EU.
A/S Øresund also owns 50 per cent of Øresundsbro Konsortiet, which operates the Øresund Bridge, which is owned by both Denmark and Sweden.
A/S Øresund is responsible for conducting an EIA study of an Eastern Ring Road (The Harbor Tunnel) around Copenhagen, which along the Amager coast connects the Helsingør motorway in the north and the Øresund motorway in the south. Read more at www.havnetunnel.dk
