Charges on the Storebælt Bridge 2023

Charges for automatic payment using a bizz or number plate have been adjusted with effect from 1 January 2023 both for private and business customers. The adjustment is in line with the political agreement on toll charge reduction made in 2017.

According to the agreement, charges on Storebælt must be reduced by a total of 25 per cent, starting from 2018 by 15 per cent and be fully phased in when the motorway on West Funen between Nr. Aaby and Odense V has been expanded from four lanes to six. Between 2018 and 2023, charges for automatic payment on Storebælt were kept constant and were not, as is usual, adjusted in line with the consumer price index. The final part of the toll charge reduction of up to 25 per cent has been adjusted with effect from 1 January 2023.

Without the political agreement from 2017, inflation in the intervening period would mean that from January 2023, a passenger car would have been charged DKK 270 in cash to drive across Storebælt and DKK 257 with automatic payment.

With the political agreement regarding the 25 per cent reduction for automatic payment, the price is reduced to DKK 192 with effect from 1 January 2023.

Cash prices are not covered by the reduction in charges and are therefore regulated in line with the consumer price index throughout the period. The current high level of inflation means that the price for a private passenger car will increase from DKK 250 in 2022 to DKK 2070 in 2023. An ordinary passenger car in 2023 will therefore save DKK 78 by using automatic payment.
