A/S Storebælt owns four harbours

A/S Storebælt owns four ferry ports north and south of the Storebælt link: Odden and Ebeltoft and Spodsbjerg and Taars.

The four ports are operated on normal commercial terms where the ports’ revenue from users finances investment, operations and maintenance.

Odden og Ebeltoft samt Spodsbjerg og Tårs

A/S Storebælt has an interest in the ports because the Act on Ferry Services imposes an obligation on A/S Storebælt to ensure sailings on the routes in question if such services cannot be run on standard commercial terms. For the Spodsbjerg-Tårs service, A/S Storebælt has an agreement with Molslinjen A/S to cover losses and manage operations for the period 1 May 2018 - 30 April 2028.

The ports are also strategically important for the company because they are part of the contingency planning for the provision of alternative options for motorists in the event of a disruption to services on the Storebælt fixed link.

In conjunction with the ferry companies and the police, vulnerability assessments of the ports in Odden, Ebeltoft, Spodsbjerg and Tårs were carried out, as required by the new order from the Coast Directorate. The assessments have formed the basis for the preparation of the port security plans.

To ensure optimum conditions for customers, A/S Storebælt, as the owner of the ports, together with Molslinien A/S, has upgraded the ticketing facilities at Odden Port.
