From Saturday, 11 July, to Monday, 20 July 2026, Sund & Bælt will carry out a planned upgrade of the railway between Korsør and Nyborg.
The upgrade is part of a multi-year programme through which Sund & Bælt is continuously renewing the railway infrastructure on the route. Last year, six railway switches were replaced, and this year the work continues with the replacement of a further eight switches.
Railway switches guide trains from one track to another and are a vital part of the railway system. After many years of use, they have become worn and therefore need to be replaced as part of the ongoing upgrade programme.
“Railway switches are an important part of the railway, and they must be continuously upgraded and renewed. The work helps ensure stable and safe rail traffic across Storebælt, supporting mobility throughout Denmark,” says Pernille Jøndrup, Head of the Railway Engineering Department at Sund & Bælt.
The work has been scheduled during the summer period, when rail traffic is typically lower than during the rest of the year. This allows the necessary maintenance to be carried out at a time when it causes the least possible disruption to passengers.
The upgrade is being carried out by Strukton, with Bravida as subcontractor.
While the work is underway, no trains will run through Korsør and Nyborg stations. DSB will operate rail replacement buses instead. Passengers are encouraged to stay informed via DSB and check Rejseplanen before travelling.
