To enhance connectivity for the benefit of travellers, we operate and continuously develop our infrastructure. This includes the Øresund line, which is owned, operated and maintained by our subsidiary, A/S Øresund.
Together with the upcoming Fehmarnbelt link, the Øresund line will ensure a faster connection between Scandinavia and the rest of Europe. Both are vital components in the realisation of the European vision for one interconnected transport network that connects North, South, East and West. The railway will offer an even more attractive alternative for passenger and freight transport and will benefit passengers, freight customers and the environment.
This is a very busy section, which means that current capacity is challenged. As rail traffic, particularly freight traffic, on the Øresund line is expected to increase when the Fehmarnbelt fixed link opens in 2029, the train station at Copenhagen Airport is being expanded.
The expansion of the Øresund line entails two new platforms alongside the rail tracks north of the airport’s Terminal 3. Together with the two existing platforms under the airport’s Terminal 3 and new points, we will establish one-directional operations at Copenhagen Airport Station.
This means that all trains bound for Copenhagen, Funen and Jutland will leave from the new platforms, while all trains bound for Malmø/Sweden will depart from the existing platforms under the airport’s Terminal 3.
