The Øresund facility, which consists of both motorway and railway across Amager to Copenhagen Airport and the Øresund Bridge, is, despite the relatively short distance, one of the most important transport links in Denmark.
The opening of the motorway in 1997 and the railway in 1998 marked a leap in mobility at international, national, regional and local levels. The capital, Copenhagen gained a modern and efficient traffic transport link between the city centre and the airport, which relieved the local roads on Amager. At the same time, local business and the public gained an upgraded infrastructure. The motorway is also very much used for local traffic.
The Øresund facility has also been one of the prerequisites for the development of the new Ørestad district on Amager. Moreover the Øresund Bridge and the Øresund land facility are a prerequisite for closer contact between the Copenhagen area and southern Sweden.
In 2018, the noise map and noise action plan for A/S Øresund's motorway and railway (in Danish only) were updated. The update takes place every five years. Read more about noise action plans at the Danish Environmental Protection Agency.
