Feasibility study for a fixed link across Kattegat published

On 15 June 2022, Denmark’s Transport Ministry published a feasibility study for a fixed link across Kattegat.

The feasibility study was carried out in a collaboration between the Danish Road Directorate, Sund & Bælt and the Danish Transport Authority. It sets out the different alignment corridors, technical solutions and climate impact as well as the environmental, transport and socio-economic consequences of a fixed link across Kattegat.

The study includes solutions for both a road link and a combined road and rail link. In practice, therefore, it covers two feasibility studies as the physical solutions and the consequences of a road link and a combined road and rail link are different.

The purpose of the feasibility study, which has been three years underway, is to provide a robust basis for political discussions and possibly a decision in principle on the future course of the project.
