The Storebælt fixed link turns 24 years

Twenty-four years ago today, the fixed link across Storebælt opened with great festivities.

At that time, the bridge’s estimated service life was 100 years. But with the digitalisation of maintenance work and with new technology, the service life has been extended to 200 years. We could not have achieved this without partners such as IBM and the development of the asset management solution, Maximo for Civil Infrastructure.

Maximo monitors the condition of Storebælt and alerts us to when preventive maintenance and repairs are necessary. This therefore optimises our maintenance work and means that the Storebælt Bridge can last 100 years longer than originally planned (according to a new assessment by @Rambøll).

We are delighted to announce that Børsen Sustainability has included Storebælt in its list of 50 sustainable projects.
