The project involves the establishment of two passing tracks at Kalvebod, located between Copenhagen South Station and Ørestad Station. This initiative is part of the Infrastructure Plan 2035 and is essential for realizing the full benefits of a southern railway corridor from Roskilde via Copenhagen South to Copenhagen Airport.
The passing tracks are being built to improve train traffic and ensure capacity for both freight and passenger trains in light of the increased railway traffic anticipated with the upcoming Fehmarn Belt connection.
Sund & Bælt, which has conducted an environmental impact assessment for the project, is tendering the first phase of the work as a design and build contract with early contractor involvement. The first phase includes earthworks, drainage, and structural construction.
The tender is being conducted in English, and requests for prequalification must be submitted via eu-supply.com. The deadline for submissions is June 19, 2025.
The construction work is expected to commence in the spring of 2026, and the passing tracks are anticipated to be completed by 2028.
