Holiday traffic on the Storebælt Bridge

Friday sees the start of the school summer holidays and the peak travel season. This means additional traffic across the Storebælt Bridge, particularly at weekends.

Traffic heading for Funen and Jutland is likely to be particularly heavy on Saturdays between 10:00 and 14:00 while traffic heading towards Zealand is expected to be heavy on both Saturdays and Sundays between 12:00 and 17:00.

To avoid additional waiting time at the toll station, we recommend paying by bizz or by number plate via the green Express lanes.

"Not only does this avoid additional waiting time, it’s also the cheapest way to cross the bridge and save at least DKK 55 per trip,” says Jens Kjær Nielsen, toll station manager.

"However, it’s important to be well prepared for the journey. Remember to check that your means of payment is up to date so as to be sure that your bizz or number plate works when you get to the toll station.”

It is still possible to set up a number plate contract before the summer holidays. It can be used for payment just 20 minutes later.

Storebælt’s toll station has been upgraded with new technology, which means that self-service is available in both the card and cash lanes. Drivers are also able to seek immediate assistance by pressing the red 'help button'.

A few tips for your holiday trip
Have you recently got a new credit/debit card? If so, then please remember to update your contract otherwise you risk the boom barrier not working. Update or check your details at brobizz.com.

If you do not have a bizz, you can still set up a number plate contract at brobizz.com and save at least DKK 55 when you cross Storebælt. The contract is triggered 20 minutes later.

Keep updated on traffic conditions on the bridge via traffic reports at Storebaelt.dk and Storebælt’s Facebook page or sign up for our 7-day SMS service (text BRO INFO to 1231).

Storebælt is closed during Tour de France
Remember that the Storebælt Bridge is closed to all vehicle traffic on Saturday, 2 July between 13:00 and 18:00 and that at 12:30, it will be closed to traffic on the adjoining motorway at Nyborg V and Slagelse V. If at all possible, therefore, please avoid planning a trip across Storebælt on this day. Instead, please travel on the days before or postpone your trip until Sunday 3 July.
