The Øresund Motorway is currently characterised by extensive congestion and traffic issues during rush hours, particularly on the western part of the motorway and at the interchanges in Kastrup and Tårnby.
To increase capacity and reduce traffic congestion, a majority in the Danish Parliament (Folketinget) has decided, as part of the Infrastructure Plan 2035, to expand the Øresund Motorway. The motorway runs across Amager from the Amager Motorway and the City Link in the west to Copenhagen Airport and the Øresund Link in the east.
The first phase of the motorway expansion project is now put out to tender by Sund & Bælt as a main contract. This phase includes the addition of extra lanes between Exit 20, Copenhagen C, and Exit 17, Airport W. Furthermore, a parallel ramp will be constructed between Exit 19, Ørestad, and Exit 20, Copenhagen S.
Sund & Bælt emphasises in the tender that the contractor must complete the project with consideration for both local residents and the many daily commuters in the area. During the construction period, efforts will be made to maintain the same number of lanes in operation.
Applications for prequalification must be submitted via eu-supply.com by the deadline of June 3, 2025.
