Rail safety

Banedanmark’s Regional Traffic Control Centre in Roskilde manages and monitors rail traffic across the Storebælt fixed link. The railway line is controlled by a signalling system which allows train traffic to run at speeds of 180 km/hr in both directions.

The Storebælt fixed link’s rail section comprises the stations at Korsør and Nyborg as well as the tunnel and West Bridge.

Closure of Storebælt’s railway line

Storebælt’s railway line is open 24 hours a day, all year round.

Banedanmark’s traffic rules (SR | Banedanmark (in Danish)) set out the restrictions in the event of special weather conditions or reduced capacity of the railway engineering installations.

Sund & Bælt, DSB and Banedanmark send out regular information about traffic conditions on Storebælt’s railway line.
